31. Timothy Rothwell (LGB 1977)

Timothy Rothwell1. How long did you spend at Ecolint?
Fourteen years.

2. How did you come to attend Ecolint in the first place?
My father Peter Rothwell arrived in Geneva as Head of the Art Department, La Grande Bossière in 1962.

3. Which teacher had the biggest impact on you and how?
Othmar Hamayed, through his ability to make us all feel important as individuals in a multicultural group.

4. What was your favourite spot on campus and why?
The senior lawn leading down to the football pitch

5. What was your favourite place in the wider region, and why?
Port Choiseul, Versoix for its water sports and the beautiful Lake Léman.

6. Describe your life today, where you live and what you do.
I am living in Prilly, Lausanne where I run a Foundation which groups rest homes and day centres for residents suffering from psychogeriatric pathologies. I am also president of the local soccer club regrouping 22 teams. Happily married to Grasy with two grown up children, Joanna 21 and Matthew 28. Looking forward to retiring in Portugal not too far from now.

7. What should be Ecolint's top priority as it approaches its 100th anniversary?
To ensure the continuity of its long lasting human, social and cultural values

8. What "words of wisdom" would you pass on to today's Ecolint students?
To make the most of the magnificent exchanges in a multinational and multicultural environment.

9. What has been the biggest impact of your Ecolint education on your life?
The capacity to adapt in different environments whether professional or socially. Although sometimes difficult, never to judge but to accept and acknowledge situations and people with empathy.
