(Ani Afshar)

Ani Afshar1. How long did you spend at Ecolint?
From 1962 to 1965, I was on and off in the boarding school.

2. How did you come to attend Ecolint in the first place?
I went to La Chatelainie school in Gstaad when I was 11. Later my parents had a home in Geneva, so when they were there I was an Ecolint day student and a boarder when they were in Istanbul.

3. Which teacher had the biggest impact on you and how?
Mr. Leach the history teacher.

4. What was your favourite spot on campus and why?
The Greek Theatre, and there was a little garden by the coat room.

5. What was your favourite place in the wider region, and why?
Our home was in Parc de Budé and was I very attached to Geneva in every way.

6. Describe your life today, where you live and what you do.
I am an artist and jewelry designer. For many years I was in the fashion accessories market  based out of New York and selling my designs internationally; now I am mostly an artist, exhibiting my work regularly. (My website is aniafshar.com.) I have two sons and we are all based in Chicago.

7. What should be Ecolint's top priority as it approaches its 100th anniversary?
Continue the good work of making everyone from everywhere comfortable!

8. What "words of wisdom" would you pass on to today's Ecolint students?
Enjoy the world, because nothing stays the same.

9. What has been the biggest impact of your Ecolint education on your life?
The strength I got from being among so many different people at a young age and learning to navigate the world.
