 1. What is your company’s product/service?
Youth Underground is the voice of the youth against human trafficking. It is a global information-sharing and referral platform, a knowledge and youth hub, to showcase initiatives against human trafficking by the youth, as advocates of change and defenders of human rights across age and frontier.

2. Where was it founded and where do you now have offices?
Geneva, Switzerland.

3. Number of employees at peak (and now)?
15

4. What was the hardest thing about building the company?
Getting my message and vision across, i.e. “selling my product” and underlining the company’s value-added. Fundraising is also hard when you’re not selling a tangible product.

5. Where do you see your company in three years?
The biggest youth platform against human trafficking and other human rights issues of concern/relevance to the younger generation.

6. Do any other Ecolint alumni work with you?
Yes, I have four international school alumni, of various generations, and one current LGB student, working with me (so five all in all). It was completely unintentional. I kept in touch with many of my school friends and rekindled my friendship with others via FB and alumni reunions. They came on board because of their skills, and because of the fact that they understood my vision and where I wanted to take the company. The younger ones are really by accident – for the same reasons. Those who are still Ecolint students expressed an interest in what I was doing and I asked them to join. So all in all, I cannot say it was deliberate. I found the right people at the right time, and the company just came together. I would like to add that there is something strangely reassuring about working with people who were with me at school. I feel they are family!

7. In what ways (if any!) did your Ecolint education help you in founding a company?
It gave me the facility to understand, appreciate and work with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
