Alan Haas (Foundation 1976-1978)

 Alan Haas   Alan Haas

1. When did you work at the International School of Geneva and what was/were your role(s)?
1976-78:  I was appointed Deputy Director General and served as the Director of the three schools on the Rive Droite (Rue Schaub, Bellevue and La Châtaigneraie).

2. Describe your life today, where you live and what you do.
We returned to our home in New Canaan, Connecticut in 1978 where our two children, Jan and Kristina completed their secondary education. In 1983, a friend in Geneva and I co-founded an educational consultancy, Educational Futures, and this has been my primary occupation since. We work with students from around the world who wish to study in North America at the secondary school or university level.

3. What are your strongest memories of working at Ecolint?
Working as a colleague with Rene Lejeune, Philip Thomas, Mike Lee, Michel Chinal, Othman Hamayed, Diana Maples and many others was a personal and professional pleasure. The support of Board members Albert van Daalen and David Barnes was gratifying. The diversity and tolerance that characterized the student body was refreshing and gives one hope that the human race can live together.

4. To what extent do you like to keep in touch with former students and colleagues?
We have a few friends among former staff, and we currently work with Foundation families on the college/university planning process, so we keep au courant with the news of the schools. We enjoy reading the occasional U.S. Ecolint Northeast Alumni Chapter Newsletter and will continue to follow it in the new digital format.
