US Northeast Escalade dinner 2009

The Escalade dinner put on by the Northeast US Alumni
Chapter in New York City on December 12th, 2009 was one of the best
attended we’ve had. There were so many RSVPs, we had to start a waiting
list (and unfortunately, could not accommodate everyone). In the end we had a
full room with forty people. Several alums traveled from quite far—Geneva,
Paris, and Los Angeles. The party was held in a private room at Lily’s on
47th and Lexington Avenue. The feedback on the food and ambience was
very positive. We conducted our usual celebration: retelling of the Escalade
story by Judy Thomas, with embellishments, singing of the Escalade songs in old
French, and of course, the breaking of the marmite. We would like to extend our
thanks to the Development & Alumni Office for once again providing us with the marmite—authentic
and delicious.
On a sad note, we raised a glass to Don Cook, class of 1960,
who passed away on December 10th. He was remembered fondly by
several. Don had attended our events before and had been really eager to attend
this particular Escalade, but went into a decline in November. He had been ill
as a result of a brain tumor. More information about Don will be posted
separately.

Just posted the Escalade 2009 Dinner pictures from New York at the Roger Smith Hotel.
A good time was had by all 41 participants! Enjoy the photos contributed by myself, Riva Freifeld and Peggy Troupin. I apologize in advance for some missing names - Peggy and I did our best to photograph and id all. If anyone wants a particular photo original emailed - just contact me at sandrajarp@verizon.net. Happy to oblige. The room we had was very dark, so we tried to lighted, crop and remove all the "red eye"... Happy 2010!!!
