In response to the many tributes that alumni have shared with her about about her beloved husband, Jack Garstang (17 October 2010), Jean would like to share the following article with you.

>> The International School of Geneva, by J. G. Garstang

From Jean Garstang, Veyrier, 15th August 2010

"Jack Garstang wrote this article in January 1965 for the magazine of The Polytechnic, Regent Street, London where he held the position, before coming to Ecolint, as Assistant to the Organiser of Physical Activities for the University Students, during the 3 years he spent at the Polytechnic, he also discovered his talent for writing and produced many articles for national newspapers and journals on Physical Educations and Sports and the teaching of those subjects.

Being in London also gave him close contact with the publishing world. He published no less than 6 books.

However, this never changed his first love, teaching, and we were fortunate to find a teaching post and adventure in coming to Geneva and Ecolint.

During his career of 31 years (1961 – 1992) his respect for the ideals of the school and the joy he took each day (and night) from passing on his own high standards and knowledge to thousands of young people remained.

He was an excellent teacher and a very patient loving father and husband."
