Patricia Brinsmade Turner (Patsy) passed away peacefully on August 31, 2011 surrounded by her husband Fred, family and friends after a long illness. Patsy was born on October 11, 1943 in Caracas, Venezuela to Robert T. and Mollye Catherine Johnson Brinsmade. She attended school in Caracas at Campo Alegre, high school at the International School of Geneva and entered the University of Texas at Austin in 1964, where she became a member of Pi Beta Phi. Patsy and her children moved to Dallas in 1970 and shortly afterwards met Fred E. Turner of Dallas, the love of her life. Together they raised her two children, Bettina and Freddie Longoria, and Fred’s three children, Charlotte, Amanda, and Sean Turner. Her children and her grandchildren were the "center of her life," and she and Fred enjoyed spending all of their time with them. Patsy was a member of the Jr. League of Dallas and the Dallas Country Club where she was an active tennis player and later served as President of the DCC Women’s Tennis Association. Patsy had a fun loving and strong character. She had a deep sense of loyalty, and lived life to the fullest with her fabulous taste and flair. She always made sure everyone around her had a good time. Patsy especially loved the State Fair of Texas and her Texas Longhorns. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Fred Turner, and her beloved children and grandchildren, Charlotte Turner, Bettina, her husband Stephen Hill, and their daughter Mia; Amanda, her husband James C. Hairston, and daughters Mallory and Caitlin Hancock; Freddie Longoria and his wife Maree, and their children Cuatro, Anna Marie, and Patsy; and Sean Turner, his wife Claire, and their children Glenn and Mary Bess. Patsy is also survived by her sister Carol Ann and husband Milton Smith, Elizabeth Turner Calloway Marshall and her husband John W. Marshall, Jr., J. Glenn Turner, Jr. and his wife Cindy, John L. Turner and his wife Nancy, and Mary Frances Turner, Jr., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the medical team at UT Southwestern, her wonderful caregivers: Jo Dunfield, Amanda Williams, Deborah Allen and Sonya Jackson, and numerous others from Carestaf. We are especially grateful for our Sylvia Lopez who was an important part of Patsy’s Life for many years.
