48. Doug Brice (LGB 1954)

Posted By Alumni Office, vendredi, 24 octobre 2014
Doug Brice1. How long did you spend at Ecolint?
I was at Ecolint for two years ('52-'54).

2. How did you come to attend Ecolint in the first place?
The American school in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia (Aramco) went only to the 9th grade, and that is still true today.

3. Which teacher had the biggest impact on you and how?
Several teachers were excellent, it would be unfair to just select one!

4. What was your favourite spot on campus and why?
In those days, Ecoint provided a boarding facility and so my favorite spot was the Day Room on the 2nd floor. We gathered there prior to having "lights out".

5. What was your favourite place in the wider region, and why?
The trips the school sponsored, although Lake Como was one of our trips. Very pretty!

6. Describe your life today, where you live and what you do.
I am retired from IBM, living in Columbia, MD. (30 miles from Washington, D.C.) and I volunteer at the BWI International Airport among other activities.

7. What should be Ecolint's top priority as it approaches its 100th anniversary?
Try  to get as many representatives, particularly the 12th grade, to be present! (I never see anyone from the upper grades for the years - 52 - 54.) at reunions, etc.

8. What "words of wisdom" would you pass on to today's Ecolint students?
Because of the diversity of the student body, I think it is a great opportunity to establish close bonds and a network of relationships.

9. What has been the biggest impact of your Ecolint education on your life?
With so many nationalities present,  I developed patience and understanding other people's beliefs, etc. It has come in handy, particularly in the field of  marketing and selling, which I did at IBM.
