 Andrew Colley   Andrew Colley

1. When did you work at the International School of Geneva and what was/were your role(s)?
From 1995 to 2001 I was Head of the Theatre Department at La Grande Boissière.

2. Describe your life today, where you live and what you do.
Professionally my life is very different. I have recently been appointed to the post of Lecturer in Special Education at the University of East London, Cass School of Education and Communities. I have been specialising in working with young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties for about seven years. This has included teaching in two special schools, writing a book about personalising the curriculum for young people with complex needs, and undertaking a Masters Degree in severe learning difficulties at the University of Birmingham.
I live with my wife Gillian – who also taught at Ecolint – in Essex. Our son, Sam, who was a pupil at Les Marronniers, is now a trainee Park Ranger, and outdoor activity instructor.

3. What are your strongest memories of working at Ecolint?
Well, the Graduation ceremonies…the theatre productions…my colleagues…the views of the mountains…pumpkin gratin from the caf…and playing for The Geneva Scottish Football Club for 6 years. Bliss!

4. To what extent do you like to keep in touch with former students and colleagues?
I have two or three very close friends now who were colleagues at the time. I also keep in touch with a few of my former IB Theatre Students. In particular, the group I taught between 1995 and 1997/8 were a very close knit group who went through a lot together and put on some extraordinary productions. They were very special.
