Students in the Middle and Secondary Schools at La Grande Boissière have been spending time this week with two alumni who are building their careers in the music industry. These workshops coincide with the first visit to Geneva of the United Strings of Europe, an ensemble led by Julian Azkoul (LGB '06).

Ahead of a free concert taking place at the Temple de la Fusterie this evening, the musicians have spent a couple of days on campus, talking to and performing for the students. Middle School students have been introduced to some well-known pieces, while Secondary students also had the opportunity to work with the composer of a new work to be premièred in Geneva this evening.

As an added treat for the Middle School students, Julian's brother Michael, a Hip Hop artist who performs under the name Dr Koul, also dropped in to demonstrate some freestyle rapping over improvisations by the string ensemble.

We captured some footage of the musicians in action and talked to Julian about the experience of coming back to LGB. (View on YouTube.)
