Great turnout for networking event

Around 40 alumni gathered at Geneva's Red Cross Museum on Tuesday evening for a professional networking event organized by the Ecolint Alumni Office. With the venue located in the heart of the international district, there was a strong representation of alumni working in international relations, diplomacy and the NGO sector.

The highlight of the evening was a talk by Athar Sultan-Khan (LGB '74, pictured below), who has been Chef de Cabinet  at UNHCR for more than a decade. His short speech covered a lot of ground: the evolution of the UN, the various refugee crises the world has seen, his own experiences at Ecolint and after, and more. As one attendee put it: "Nothing is more valuable than information and advice from a successful and sincere 'homme de terrain' such as Mr Khan."

There was lively conversation throughout the evening, with a "speed networking" exercise helping to ensure there was plenty of mingling. Ecolint Governing Board member Laragh Gollogly, who works as an editor with the World Health Organization and had assisted with the planning of the event, was also present. She spoke briefly to the assembled alumni and emphasized the importance of retaining their connection with the school.

The next professional networking event in Geneva will take place in the autumn.
