An old Super 8 tape marked "Lycée des Nations, Field Week, Oct 1971" recently reached the Alumni Office courtesy of former teacher Gus Ritson. The contents of the tape have been digitized and are now available via our YouTube Channel.

The Alumni Office would welcome further information about the trip and the students who were on it. The trip appears to have been to the Mont-Blanc region, with scenes from the St. Gervais area. Anyone with further details should contact

There is no audio track on the tape. If the embedded version below does not work on your browser you can find the video on YouTube here.

> In the coming months the Ecolint Alumni Office will make more archive materials available on our YouTube Channel. Anyone that has old tapes that may be of interest is invited to contact us via or +41 22 787 25 55.

Although I wasn't at the school yet (I joined in 1973), I recognised quite a few faces: Robin and Sandie Mackie, Roger Bleakley, Martin Parker, Jenny Riley, Lisa Clark, Ingrid Norbom, Katherine Jones, Sue Kostelecka, Anna Toolan, Nicola Couzens, Dany Hacco, Wendy Krummel. Possibly also Sameer Sant. You are so right Wendy, those field trips were a great introduction to new class mates and school friends. I sure miss the good old Lycée de Nations years and the people I got to meet and befriend.

There's a long discussion of this video in the Lycée des Nations Facebook Group:

This is a really interesting and fun find! From the signage in the video it looks like they are at least at some point in the Mégève and St. Gervais regions.

The field trips we went on in those years were amazing examples of experiential learning. What a quality education we had. And scheduled as they were in the fall of the year, and the fact that they were a required component of the school year, not an optional trip, helped to integrate us as a cohesive group each year in spite of turnover among kids. I always felt we made friends fast, and we made fast friends!
