Glyn Uzzell was a renowned painter and print-maker who taught Art at Ecolint from 1957 to 1979. He remained active as an artist until his death, in a tragic circumstances, in June 2014. One of his works has this week been given to La Grande Boissière.

The painting, titled Distant Lands, was given by Mr Uzzell to Ken (LGB '64) and Manzo (LGB '67) Nitta on a visit to Japan in the 1990s. The brothers decided to donate the work to the school and Manzo (known as Mark when at school), who currently lives in Vaud, visited LGB this week to present it to Foundation Archivist Alejandro Rodriguez-Giovo.

It is intended to hang the painting in the former Library, which is now the Secondary Staff Room.

I remember this painting. What a wonderful gesture! I have two of Glyn's paintings, one gifted (he was so generous) and one bought from my dear friend. They are amongst my most treasured posessions. I hope everyone in the school will appreciate his enormous talent and the thought behind the donation.
