Cover of issue 19 of echo magazineWe've just published the latest issue of echo, our biannual magazine for alumni, parents and staff. It is available here to read online and will soon be arriving by post to those who are on our mailing list.

The cover story focuses on Outdoor Learning, an increasingly important element of the curriculum right across the Foundation. You can read about activities at our Early Years school in Pregny, where students are encouraged to explore the rich natural environment.

For our regular series about alumni active in a particular profession, we turn this time to the world of sport. We meet Mark Dennis (LGB '83), a former professional American football player, Olympic steeplechaser Lennie Waite (La Chât '04), and Thibault Trancart (Nations '11), who hopes to represent Switzerland in the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Tokyo.

The Great Escape!

The end of the school year always sees the retirement of a number of teachers. 2016 has been a particularly notable year in this regard at La Chât, where there were seven retirees with a combined total of 128 years of teaching between them. The magazine includes tributes to each one, plus an interview with Nicole Pitteloud, who spent just short of 40 years teaching at Les Marronniers Primary School at LGB.

In another recurring feature, we meet alumni who have ended up back at school, this time as teachers. In the latest issue we meet two La Chât alumni: Matt Welling, who is now teaching Science on his former campus, and Hubert Schneebeli, the Head of Geography at LGB Secondary School.

And much more...

Other articles that may be of interest include a profile of alumnus Berk Balkis (Nations '14), one of the first students to complete the ASDAN Diploma in Life Skills under our Extended Support Programme, an introduction to the successful Musée des Enfants initiative at Les Marronniers, and a tribute to a towering figure Ecolint's history, Robert J. Leach.

We publish echo twice per year. It is sent to the parents of all current students and to all alumni for whom we have a valid postal address. If you would like to receive it by post, please create a user account for this website. Register here.
