Boston celebrated despite missing marmite

With twenty marmites sent to events around the world from the Alumni Office this year, there was always a chance that some might go astray en route. In fact, they all arrived but unfortunately the pot bound for Boston arrived just a few days too late for the celebration. They partied on regardless (and will have an after-party later this week). Lalitha Sundaram Ramakrishnan (LGB '71) kindly sent this report.

This 2016 Boston Ecolint Escalade party was held at Alumni Paul Smyke’s lovely new home. Thank you, Paul for hosting us! We had a wonderful gathering with lots of food, wine and good cheer.

Unfortunately, the Escalade Marmite did not get here on time. Paul's daughter and a friend very creatively built a delicious chocolate fort with chocolate bear guards. However, the alumni were not inclined to sing without the traditional smashing of the marmite. We did read the Escalade story out loud – (thank you Christopher Geiger!) – and had a piece of the chocolate fort and chocolate mousse cake (thank you Rini Sandhu!), and continued partying.

The following alumni attended, many with a guest. Rini Sandhu, John Hilliard, Mark Franklin, Lalitha Sundaram Ramakrishnan, Shruti Wilson, Danna Peterson, Gerald Moore, Alexandra Nesbeda, Marie-Lou Latrille, Christine Lamb Jenkins, Camran Shahidi, Christopher Geiger, Balam Willemsen-Cortés, and Lara Lom.

It was nice to see some new faces!

Swissnex Consul Felix Moesner, his wife Makiko and their daughter also joined us to celebrate la Fête de l’Escalade.  Felix arrived with a case of Swiss Chasselas wine which was a wonderful treat for all!

The chocolate marmite has now finally arrived more or less intact! Although its chocolate lid did not make it. We are having an after-party at the Swissnex Offices on December 21 from 6-8 pm – thank you Felix Moesner – so that we can still share and enjoy the chocolate and marzipan together. It will be an opportunity to see each other before the holidays!

Looking forward to seeing many of you again and especially those of you who were unable to come to the party at Paul's!

Anyone planning to attend the marmite party in Boston on Wednesday should email by this evening at the latest, as they need to have an accurate guest count. Thanks!
