Une rentrée inhabituelle

On Monday 31 August, Ecolint welcomed students and teachers back to all three campuses for the beginning of what will certainly be a very unusual school year.

Despite masks, new layouts in classrooms and cafeterias, one-way flows in corridors, and all the other ways Covid guidelines have changed the schools’ day-to-day functioning, the usual back-to-school spirit was alive and well: the sounds of friends meeting back upfter the holidays, the talk of new schedules and new classmates, the excitement at new subjects of study and new academic challenges.

The Director General David Hawley presented the new concise expression of Ecolint’s mission - the work of a group of students, teachers, parents, alumni and staff over the past year -  to both students and staff: “to educate students to be global citizens with the courage and capacity to create a just and joyful tomorrow together."

In the wake of George Floyd’s death and the ensuing worldwide demonstrations against racism and discrimination, Dr. Hawley also reminded staff, students and parents of Ecolint’s commitment to the equal value of all human beings (as noted in Ecolint’s Charter). He reiterated the school’s zero tolerance of discriminatory behaviour, including hate speech, in person or through other media, directed against anyone anytime on the basis of ethnicity, skin colour, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability.

We are in for an unpredictable year, it’s undeniable! But Ecolint’s teachers and students are as ready as can be for what the future holds.
